USCGA Mens Rugby Club
COAST GUARD ACADEMY RUGBY IS BACK FOR THE FALL 2013 SEASON

CGA Men Play Their First Season Home Game This Weekend

2/c Neil Clarkin makes contact with a player from Yale Rugby in an early pre-season scrimmage.
The Men's rugby program was established in 1968. From the early 1970's through the late 1980's the cadets played, coached and managed the team on their own. Around 1988 a club advisor and coach were utilized to raise the level of support within CGA. The cadet's rigorous military and academic schedules left little time for practice. Despite the limited time and no dedicated practice facilities the men's team continued to be one of the best performing teams at CGA. As coaching and support improved the men of CGA became a dominate force in North East College rugby, winning the Northeast Regional Championship 5 years in a row and in 2006 winning the Division II National Championship. The cadets countinue to play at the highest level of DII rugby and are consistently ranked in the top 20 nationwide in DII.

The men's rugby team could not perform at this level without the exceptional support of the
Coast Guard Foundation and the Coast Guard Alumni Association.
